Objective January 2000 – April 2002 Design Director for multidisciplinary marketing agency, leading design efforts for it’s interactive media division. Instrumental in setting design standards, best practices, and documentation procedures for interactive deliverables. Largely responsible for communicating design strategies, methodologies, and technical requirements to clients regarding their strategic business objectives. Collaborated in a team-based environment of designers, content developers, programmers, account managers, and executives consistently on all projects. Delivered client presentations on all creative. Directed, designed, and developed websites, CD-ROMs, banner ads, e-marketing, product and educational demos, icons, kiosks, and user interfaces for clients including Internet Security Systems, CheckFree, CES International, Serologicals, Revenue Technologies, CareScience, InfoMentis and Mapics. Instrumental in new hire integration and the HR process. Responsible for directing a team of up to 5 designers and 3 programmer/developers, delegating workflow, forecasting, estimating, and budgeting. Awards included 3 Forbes Best of the Web Awards and 3 Web Marketing Association Awards for Standard of Excellence. June 1998 – January 2000 Art Director for an Atlanta-based design firm of 25. Managed and designed various types of projects including identity and brand campaigns, collateral, annual reports, publications/magazines, packaging, direct mail, websites, and interactive media. Developed and wrote strategic creative briefs, proposals, and directives. Responsibilities included management and direction of design teams, client management, art direction of photo shoots and audio recording, estimates, billing, and vendor coordination. Clients included UPS, BellSouth (now AT&T, MCI Worldcom, Bass Hotels & Resorts (now InterContinental Hotels Group), CheckFree, Team Best Baseball Cards, and Hewlett Packard. May 1997 – June 1998 Senior Designer for large professional services firm holding positions in New York City and Atlanta based offices. Co-authored standards for and participated on a pilot team to implement best practices nationally for Ernst & Young design offices. Designed and developed identity, collateral, packaging, kiosks, websites, presentations, and meeting/events exhibits in support of clients such as Coca-Cola, Avon, General Electric, Time Warner, NationsBank (now Bank of America), Morgan Stanley, IBM, and Intel. Responsibilities included client management, authoring of estimates and proposals, vendor coordination, photo shoots, and art direction/management of junior designers. December 1995 – May 1997 Graphic Designer for medical communications agency in New York City. Designed websites, identity, collateral, tradeshow and symposia support, publications, slide kits, exhibits, signage and ads for Pfizer, Roche, Novartis, Sonus, Wyeth Ayerst, Glaxo Wellcome, and Schering. Designed and developed, “The Pfizer Journal”, Diabetes Dialogues On-Line, Protect Monograph On-Line, and CHF Monograph On-Line. Responsibilities included managing of all vendors, studio billing, freelance staff and photo shoots. One of the early adopters of HTML code development and design before any software-based WYSIWYG editors were released.
